A section of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition Members of Parliament has been forcefully dispersed by police officers after they tried to set up a camp outside President William Ruto’s office at Harambee House.
The delegation, which included notable figures such as Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Kathiani MP Robert Mbui, Kisumu Woman Rep Rosa Buyu, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang, and others, were dispersed by the security officers.
The lawmakers made an attempt to march to President William Ruto’s office at Harambee House, carrying letters in their hands. Nairobi Senator Sifuna who addressed the security officers at the gate, stated that they intended to deliver their petitions to other government offices in Harrambee house.
“We just want to give this letter to the right person. Tell them to come and take it,” he said.
However, the legislators were met with tear gas from police officers who were quick to disperse the crowd.
The march coincided with a planned anti-government protest organized by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
