Kullow Maalim Hassan, a Member of Parliament from Banisa, has passed away due to a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Nairobi.
This was confirmed by his relatives. The incident reportedly happened last Saturday at Capital Centre, where he was hit by a speeding motorcycle.
Hassan received medical attention at a city hospital but unfortunately, he passed away on Tuesday evening.
Initially, Hassan was taken to Reliance Hospital in South C, but he was later transferred to Aga Khan Hospital.
The news of his death has been met with great sadness from his colleagues, led by Eldas MP Adan Keynan, who described him as an illustrious leader and a devoted public servant.
According to Keynan, “Kulow was the epitome of an illustrious leader, a devoted public servant and an amiable figure in the community who discharged his leadership responsibilities with great honor and dexterity.”
The late MP’s last public appearance was on March 20th during the launch of a task force report on the health situation in Mandera County.
Hassan was elected to parliament on an Economic Freedom Party (EFP) ticket in 2017, and he retained his seat in the 2022 general election on a United Democratic Movement (UDM) ticket.
Hassan is survived by three wives and 16 children. His death is a great loss not only to his family but also to the people of Banisa and the nation as a whole.
His contributions as a leader and public servant will always be remembered.
