Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei won his second world gold medal in men’s 10,000m race in World Athletics Championships Oregon22 on Sunday 17th July 2022. This makes Cheptegei the fourth man to win consecutively 10,000m world titles.

Cheptegei finished the race in 27:27.43 minutes. “I knew that if I could get into the last fight, I could control it and I could speed it up. It was very emotional for me to come back to the USA where I started my international career in 2014. Now I want to continue my dominance in long distance running and I hope I will manage it.” said the gold medal winner Cheptegei.
Kenya’s Stanley Mburu came in second winning the silver, the 22-year old ,regardless of the fall he took in the first lap, finished in 27:27.90 minutes.
Jacob Kiplimo won the bronze for Uganda finishing in 27:27.97.

“I did not aim to run really fast because of the heat, the sun was very strong but I was able to get stronger and keep it faster and faster.”
USA’s Grant Fisher came in fourth in 27:28.14 minutes while Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega was unable to get the results he got in Tokyo and came in fifth.
