UDA Offices Siaya County in Flames

Offices belonging to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Siaya county were on Thursday set ablaze by an unknown number of Azimio la Umoja protesters.

This comes days after the ruling party’s offices in Kisumu were also torched by angry anti-government protesters.

The rioters broke into the offices, vandalized the premises, and carted away valuables of unknown value. leaving two motor vehicles up in flames.

In today’s incident, the demonstrators outnumbered police officers who had been deployed to protect the premises. The police had earlier cordoned off the area to keep rioters away but they later managed to gain entry.

UDA party secretary general Cleophas Malala who spoke after the incident said that the ODM party will have to pay for the losses incurred and that he would write to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to withhold ODM party’s funds until they have paid for the damages.

UDA acquired the office premises after Dr Ruto won the August 9 presidential poll last year.
