Kenyans on Twitter known worldwide as KOT have descended on American TV host Emily Compagno over her statement on pregnant women during elections.
The Fox News TV host stated that pregnant women in Kenya are not only denied voting rights but are also barred from leaving their homes during polls.

“The insularity of these celebrities is so asinine to me! It is so nauseating. These comments are totally delusional”.
She added, “We have less voting rights? What about in Kenya where pregnant women can’t leave the house so they absolutely have no constructive right to vote?”
Her sentiments prompted KOT to call her out for the unverified utterances and that matters on the ground were different.
Another Twitter user said, “The fact that Fox News hasn’t apologized or pulled down that vide by Emily Compagno means they believe exactly what she said to be the gospel truth.”
Eng Geofrey said; “Emily Compagno was reckless in her thoughts. But what pained me most was the laughter from the panelists. That in itself shows how lowly @FoxNews crew thinks of Africans. We not only need an apology from @FoxNews,but also a 30minutes documentary on kenyan women and their rights.”
After some digging by Habarileo team, we found the source that Emily Campagno unapologetically quoted, Grazia Daily, which claims that women in Western part of Kenya aren’t allowed to go out during elections due to cultural norms.
“In western Kenya, women expecting children are prohibited by cultural norms to be seen in public, meaning that a huge portion of women are unable to go out to vote. With widespread health conditions in this country, women are also put off if they don’t feel fit enough to make the journeys to vote,” reads Grazia Daily article in parts.
Emily Compagno has since not retracted her comments on the matter.
