Kenya revenue Authority has now come up with a cyber idea to curb tax cheats in the country, Business Daily reports.

The taxman is looking forward to nab flamboyant Kenyans displaying lavish lifestyle on social media but pay little or no tax.

KRA commissioner Githii Mburu said that his officers are now active on social media to police Kenyans whose public profiles do not match that of their taxes.

This comes at a time where many Kenyans cannot account for their wealth and also the emergence of tax evasion among others.

However, this will be an uphill task for the taxman because social media lifestyle is not directly proportional to real life situations.

Celebrities and notable individuals in many occasions have succumbed to public pressure where they hire cars, do probono services to appease the masses.

On the flipside, this will be a tackle to wash wash community. Money launders will have hard time dealing with the taxman if their social media posts are anything to go by.
