The Kenya social media space has been awashed with a lot of bile after the release of African Netflix reality series, Young, Famous & African.
The series which has since taken Africa by storm has exposed Kenya as not ‘drama-worthy’ as no single Kenyan celebrity was featured on the series.

The series which many have named ‘polished Nairobi Diaries’ features celebrities from Nigeria including musician 2Face Idibia and his wife, South African reporter, DJ, and socialites, Ugandan businesswoman Zari Hassan and Bongo star Diamond Platinumz.
into the first episodes, we are introduced into the characters’ lives and what they intend to do, their flaws, weaknesses, and strength. We are glued on who to support and who to hate, does Zari Hassan come to you as rude auntie? Us too.

Well, East Africa was represented by the former power couple, Diamond Platinumz and Zari Hassan who spoke about their journey as parents and shortcomings of their short-lived union.
Kenyans, the biggest social media bullies in the world, were at Diamond’s neck for ‘butchering’ English. The most popular clip going viral on social media is when he said he was ’31st years old’.
The big question Kenyans have been asking is why no single celebrity from within was picked to represent in the series. Was Netflix justified for not picking any Kenyan or are Kenyans not ‘worthy’ of celebrity status that the biggest entertainment platform was looking for?
Kenyans have already compiled their list of celebrities who could perfectly fit for next round of the series. Some Kenyan celebrities have also come out to give their own views on the trending topic.
Keroche breweries heiress, Arnelisa Muigai, has come out and claimed she received an email from Netflix asking her to be a cast but she refused.
“No jokes aside, they sent me an email asking if I was interested to be in it but I turned it down,” she said.

Others include comedian Eddie Butita who jokingly said he was busy and might consider joining it in future. Comedian Eric Omondi has also blasted the series saying the producers of the show copied his Wife Material Show.
“The format used in Young, Famous and African is the same format for Wife Material. It’s either someone has been watching and stole the format from us ama it’s a really good coincidence, ” he sad.
Which Kenyan celebrity do you think can perfectly fit the title ‘Young, famous, and African?
