Following the weekly ongoing anti-government demonstrations that were called by Azimio One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has seemed to take another turn on it suspending all the demonstrations in the City.
In a letter dated Wednesday, 29th March, the County boss indefinitely suspended the Monday and Thursday protests indicating the suspensions followed consultations with the Azimio la Umoja’s National leadership and County Executive Committee.
He also made it clear that leaders in the region will join the protests in Nairobi stating they had delivered various issues affecting the County residents to the National Government.
This comes after the County boss and his deputy led demonstrators on Monday, 27th March, on the anti-government protests in which later on, protesters engaged the police in a running battle with stone pelting and teargas lobbing that later took a sad turn when one protester got shot dead in Kondele.
However, the President William Ruto, directed the IG of police Japhet Koome to ensure that chaos witnessed during the previous protest does not happen again and stressed to ensure that no property will be destroyed and life lost. This he said while still in his 4 day tour and addressing Kenyans living in Germany.
