One Killed and Several Injured In Kirinyaga Accident

Along the Kagio- Baricho road in Kirinyaga County  on April 5th 2023, two school buses have collided and one person has been reported Dead while several students injured.

Area police said the accident happened on the wee hours of Wednesday morning and it involved a Trinity Academy Kagio and Kutus Municipality buses which collided head on.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital while the deceased , a school manager , was taken to the morgue.

Area residents rushed to the scene and with welding machines they cut the bus parts to rescue the victims.

Following the impact, the buses windows were shattered and the front parts damaged.

According to the latest data from (NTSA) National Transport and Safety Authority, 1,072 fatalities have been reported in the year 2023.

Kipchumba Murkomen the Cs for  Transport on 3rd  Monday April, announced measures to be taken inorder to deal with the wave of road accidents in the country.” All vehicles will be inspected and each motorist issued with a certificate of inspection to confirm one has been servicing the vehicle , have good brakes and so forth.” He stated.
